The Session of the First Presbyterian Church of Yorktown continues to reaffirm in faith and action our commitment to welcome all people into our church community. We welcome all persons by offering the opportunity and responsibility for ordination should they be elected to leadership positions regardless of sexual orientation, and we reaffirm our commitment to encourage inclusiveness regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, age, education, economic status, or physical or mental challenge.

The First Presbyterian Church of Yorktown sees itself as a faithful member of the wider and diverse church family known as the Presbyterian Church (USA). We intend to remain faithful in word and action to the teachings of Jesus Christ as a member of our denomination. We are a fellowship of Christ's people that is richly blessed by God. These blessings include our faith, heritage, ministry, fellowship, commitment, caring and diversity. We, therefore reaffirm our action in becoming a "More Light" church, celebrating the diversity which is now and will be one of our great gifts from God and one which was and is lived out most faithfully by our Lord Jesus Christ. He is our guide as we continually strive to Build God's Kingdom in this Time and Place.
