More Light Statement
We believe that it is God's intention that the Gospel message of love and
forgiveness is for all persons and that all persons are called to life
and ministry within God's church. We affirm, therefore, that St. John's
Presbyterian Church is an inclusive fellowship of all those who confess
their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. We welcome to our membership or
service those who seek abundant life which is to be in right relationship
with God, our fellow human beings, and the earth. Under the guidance of
the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A., and its Book of
Order, and in keeping with our Reformed heritage, we declare ourselves to
be a "More Light" congregation. As such, we will ordain duly elected
members to the offices of Elder and Deacon or call to service qualified
Minister of the Word without regard to sexual orientation.
