Form a new More Light chapter

You can apply to form a new MLP chapter using the web form below, or you can download and mail in the printable version of the form. You also need to read and agree to the Chapter Guidelines.

3. Chapter name

Please list your desired chapter name. You have some flexibility in what you choose to call your chapter, although the name is part of what the MLP board will approve. Common name choices are:

Name your chapter after the church that typically hosts the chapter meetings, e.g. "More Light Presbyterians, Collendale chapter"
Name your chapter after your presbytery, e.g. "More Light Presbyterians, New Covenant chapter". We often encourage chapters to take this approach, because naming a chapter after a presbytery tends to push a chapter into more activity at the presbytery level.
Name your chapter after your local city, e.g. "More Light Presbyterians, Beanville chapter". We don't encourage you to take this approach unless you live in a moderate to large city. If you live in a smaller city, you might want to choose a name that doesn't suggest a limitation to your city, so that you can more easily expand your chapter's scope in the future.
Name your chapter after something else that has meaning to your founding members, e.g. "More Light Presbyterians, Imago Dei chapter".

4. Chapter guidelines agreement

We have read the More Light Presbyterians Chapter Guidelines document and agree to its expectations. We understand that the creation of a new chapter is subject to approval by the MLP board of directors, which also has the ability to revoke a chapter's recognition as an MLP chapter. We commit to serve as leaders for at least 12 months and to convene periodic meetings to organize chapter activities.
