Join RainbowCorps New Orleans 2009, November 16 - 19, for 4 days of work, or come for one or two days.  Local commuters are welcome!

Four years after hurricane Katrina made landfall, the City of New Orleans continues to struggle with recovery efforts. You can help!  We had extraordinary experiences in 2006, 2007 and 2008 serving in New Orleans and with the continued need, we have committed to return to New Orleans this fall.

Live into the Gospel of Christ that calls us to care for our neighbors.  Serve with RainbowCorps, a mission service initiative of More Light Presbyterians, to provide relief work through Project Homecoming--a joint initiative between the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance and the Presbytery of South Louisiana.  Work days will be Monday, November 16 through Thursday, November 19.

The core of the team this year is coming from three Presbyterian churches from Rochester, New York being organized by members and staff of Third Presbyterian Church, Rochester, a welcoming and affirming More Light Church and coordinated by Susan Orr.

Rev. Janet Edwards, Co-Moderator, MLP will be serving again along with Michael J. Adee, Executive Director and Field Organizer, MLP.  Michael grew up in southern Louisiana and went to Louisiana State University; this is his fourth time to serve with RainbowCorps rebuilding houses in New Orleans.

No construction skills required!  Our team will offer labor under the guidance of skilled crew leaders. No experience is necessary. Only a willing heart and spirit is required. Work clothes, gloves and sturdy shoes are all that is needed in terms of relief work supplies.

After a good day of work, there will be the option of an evening to the French Quarter for Cajun meals and jazz on Thursday, November 20.

Accommodations will be at the Olive Tree Village, Project Homecoming.  For more information, please contact Trice Gibbons at mlpinmidtn@yahoo.com.  If you decide to join us, please let Trice know or contact Michael J. Adee at michaeladee@aol.com or (505) 820-7082.

Hope to see you in New Orleans!
