More Light Sunday 2007 is June 3 - save the date, make plans now...
More Light Sunday is a time for local churches to recognize, affirm and celebrate the presence, gifts and ministries of persons of all sexual orientations and gender identities.
With all the questions, religious and political anti-gay statements of late, judicial trials, more studies and task forces... how about recognizing and celebrating LGBT persons, their parents and families in your local church and community?
More Light Sunday is a perfect way.
Begun in 2004, now in its fourth year of celebration, community-building, action and witness this year More Light Sunday is June 3. Participation in More Light Sunday has grown exponentially and often 1/3 of the churches participating are welcoming churches that are not part of our national network of More Light Churches.
More Light Sunday is traditionally the first Sunday in June of each year. If your church has traditionally acknowledged a More Light Sunday on some other date, or if June 3, 2007 doesn't work well for your church's calendar and you need to choose a different Sunday, that's OK too.
More Light Sunday is a special day during the traditional Pride month of June when Presbyterians committed to a Church that welcomes and affirms all of God's children, including God's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender children offer a special morning worship service or an afternoon or evening event.
Each local church designs its own worship experience, celebration or witness. Some cities or presbyteries have several churches coming together for a community-wide More Light Sunday worship service and celebration.
