Introduction

More Light Presbyterians is an organization that stands with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) people and with their families, friends and allies calling for the welcome and affirmation of all baptized Christians as equal church members of our Presbyterian Church (USA).

More Light Presbyterians is in its 36th year of advocacy work to create ordination and marriage equality for all. We have resourced local congregations in creating ordination and marriage equality overtures for the 219th. General Assembly in Minneapolis, MN and will field a strong advocacy team at the Assembly.

Our goal at the 219th General Assembly is to advocate for the removal of the obstacles in the Book of Order to the ordination of deacons, elders, and Ministers of the Word and Sacrament without regard to sexual orientation or gender identity; to make the changes necessary in our Directory of Worship to affirm marriage as a blessing for all committed couples; and to correct the language falsely inserted in the Heidelberg Catechism translation in our Book of Confessions.
