This just in! -- today during its two-day meeting at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, Albuquerque, the Presbytery of Santa Fe overwhelmingly supported and passed a Concurrence with the Cincinnati Presbytery Overture.

The Cincinnati Overture calls for the deletion of G-6.0106b, removal of all anti-gay, discriminatory Authoritative Interpretations to LGBT persons, and lifts up the Constitutional questions for ordination in place of the fidelity/chastity requirement for ordained office in our Church as ministers, elders and deacons. For more information on the Cincinnati Overture and the other LGBT-affirming Overtures see our "GA 2008 Landing Page."

Rev. Ken Cuthbertson, spiritual director, retreat leader, and minister member of the Presbytery of Santa Fe, presented the motion to concur with the Cincinnati Overture to the presbytery. Ken has also served as Parish Associate and temporary supply Pastor at Las Placitas Presbyterian Church, Placitas, New Mexico. His note about the vote follows this joyful announcement.

The Presbytery of Santa Fe concurrence with the Cincinnati Overture continues to indicate the extraordinary groundswell of grassroots support across the Presbyterian Church (USA) calling for change and the end of discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender ministers, elders, deacons and candidates for ministry in our Church. More Light Presbyterians gives thanks to God for the Presbytery of Santa Fe its concern for LGBT persons and their families; for this vote; and its call for justice.

The Presbytery of Santa Fe's concurrence joins the other LGBT-affirming overtures calling for spiritual equality, ordination equality and marriage equality at the 218th General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (USA), June 21 - 28, 2008 in San Jose, California. It's About Time!

Together We are Building a Church for All God's People!

with hope and grace,
Michael
